Marriage is between two people and their God, not two people and “the state.” Get government out of the marriage business entirely so that everyone can be treated equally as individuals, not as part of a group with special benefits (outgo from the public treasury) based merely on this status.
The Bible says in Mathew 22:21 that Jesus spoke, “Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and unto God the things that are God’s”
Our conservative Libertarian friend Andy Horning recently wrote, “Let’s take back from Caesar what is God’s” and I couldn’t agree with him more.
